A new free database offers access to international regulations on food additives
The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) has developed, with a grant from the Department of Agriculture, an International Food Additive Database designed to provide easy access to accurate and current regulatory requirements on food additives in importing countries around the world.
The Codex General Standards for Food Additives (GFSA) provides the baseline reference. The food additive regulatory requirements for China, Korea, Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Japan, Peru, Singapore, Taiwan, and Uganda are currently included – and more markets will be added through 2011. The long-term objective, according to GMA, is to expand the database to cover all major export markets for US value-added products.
The database can be accessed at www.foodadditivedatabase.com (access is free, but registration is required).
